Stappenbelt Sports bikes: from passion to profession since 1992!

It seems only yesterday that Gert and Roelien Stappenbelt moved from Salland to Apeldoorn to start a specialty store in sports bikes on Kanaal Noord. While friends and acquaintances watched them with suspicion, Gert and Roelien had faith in their concept. Being avid cyclists, Gert and Roelien knew all too well which high demands were made by serious cyclists and so it was time for a specialist..

The choice to become a Specialized Concept Store is one that was made with the heart. Gert has had a soft spot for the brand since the beginning of mountain biking in the Netherlands. In 1988 he was part of the Specialized team and in 1994, when they opened the store, the dreamed of an S-Works corner, with a lounge sofa, espresso machine and of course the best bikes in the world. That dream has become reality. Gert: “Specialized is the only brand we have ever worked with that offers our customers many opportunities to get more out of cycling, not only in terms of the range of bikes, with something for every rider, but also everything around that. Good warranty arrangements, well designed accessories, clothing and shoes, and of course the extensive Body Geometry Fit measurements with which we can find the best position for every cyclist. Specialized is a brand that works so well because everything is created by and for cyclists”, according to Gert. “As a Specialized Concept Store we will be even more involved in the developments within the brand. Through the regular courses we are able to tell our customers exactly which thoughts are behind the different concepts. Every year we are surprised by the innovations that have been implemented in the collection. And then I’m not talking about colors, but about substantial changes to the entire collection that allow us to enjoy our hobby with even more fun and results”.

Extensive workshop

In order to serve our customers in case of technical issues, we have a workshop with all the necessary tools and personnel that know how to use it. Our mechanics can, for example, repair your bike or adjust the gears and brakes, but they are also able to replace bearings or service a fork. Even if you need expert advice or maintenance tips, you are at the right address.
